An hour to the east of Bordeaux, set within an idyllic and naturally beautiful rolling landscape of vineyards and hills and close to the Dordogne river can be found the picturesque village of Gensac. At the heart of one of France’s prettiest villages lies Maison Les Remparts, surrounded by cobbled streets and inspiring views across the Durèze valley.
Between 2016 – 2022 Les Remparts has been completely renovated with the objective of exposing some of the stone walls, oak beams and original features, such as two Louis XV fireplaces and a stone staircase has been added in the hallway.
Les Remparts provides luxury and tranquility in a picturesque medieval setting surrounded by a landscape of vineyards and hills. The building has existed in one form or another for hundreds of years; most recently it was a successful restaurant.
Easy to reach from London, flying to either Bordeaux or Bergerac, Les Remparts has four wonderful double rooms for you and your friends to enjoy, each with its own ensuite. The Estate enjoys outside space with wonderful views and sunsets for relaxing, including a private walled courtyard with an infinity pool and a west facing terrace. Or you can enjoy leisurely strolls to eat or drink in the village centre a few minutes away. The village centre is also where you will find all amenities for your stay including supermarket, bakery, newsagent, bank, pharmacy, doctor, bar and restaurant.
There is so much to do locally, in one of the most famous wine regions of the world and with the Dordogne river nearby. We are surrounded by vineyards providing some glorious wine tasting opportunities within a few minutes of Les Remparts and the centre of French wine, St Emilion, is only 20 minutes away.
